Cheerio Cheerio!
Everton ended Manchester United's chance of taking five titles this season. Their hero was American goalkeeper Tim Howard, who used to play for Man United, as did Everton captain Phil Neville.
Manchester started with eight changes from the team that beat Porto mid-week, with manager Alex Ferguson giving a chance to a host of young players, including Federico Macheda and full-back twins Fabio and Rafaelda Silva. They were unable to break the Everton defence in a dull game that went into extra time and eventually a penalty shoot-out. Tim Cahill fired the first Everton shot over the bar but Dimitar Berbatov then rolled the ball tamely at Tim Howard. Howard also saved from Rio Ferdinand to set up an all blue final against Chelsea, who edged out Arsenal 2-1 on Saturday.
