The major issues in today's financial press are the lower air ticket reservations by the foreign tour operators, the Social Securities' data on the number of foreign workers in Cyprus and the criticisms of DISY Vice President, Averof Neophytou on the calculation of the GDP growth by CYSTAT. The daily press focuses on the resignation of the Chief of the Police.

The "Economy" inset of newspaper "Phileleftheros" refers to the lower air ticket reservations by the foreign tour operators. According to the report, the crisis in global economy led the foreign tour operators to buy less air seats for their customers traveling to Cyprus. In certain cases, this drop reached 30%.

Elsewhere the newspaper reports that the exams for the employment in the public sector for posts that do not exceed A7 scale will be carried out on September 26, while for those of exceeding A8 on October 31.

The "Economy" inset of newspaper "Politis" refers to the Social Securities' statistics for the number of foreign employees in Cyprus. According to the report, of the 104,252 foreign workers insured in the SSF in October, 99,615 persons were registered in January, recording a drop of 4.4%.

"Politis" also refers to the statements of President Christofias during the innovation awards ceremony organized by OEB.

The "Economy" inset of newspaper "Simerini" refers to the criticisms of DISY Vice President, Averof Neophytou for the calculation of the GDP growth by CYSTAT. According to the report, Mr. Neophytou wondered how did CYSTAT ended up with the conclusion that the GDP growth stood at 1.1% in the first quarter of the year. Mr. Neophytou is waiting for explanations by te Finance Minister and the Statistics' Service.

The newspaper also reports that according to the European Association of Car Makers, Cyprus is among the countries with the worst performance in the new saloon car registrations.

The "Economy" inset of newspaper "Haravgi" refers to the Summit of the International Labour Teleconference in Geneva. PEO General Secretary, Pambis Kyritsis said that the periods of crises are inevitable.

"Haravgi" also highlights that the agreement signed by the representatives of the European employers in Brussels yesterday will extend parental leave to four months.

The "Economy" inset of newspaper "Alithia" refers to the possible transfer of natural gas from Greece to Cyprus. According to the report, speaking after the meeting with the Greek Deputy Finance Minister, Athanasios Bouras, Commerce Minister, Antonis Paschalide said that the Greek Public Gas Corporation (DEPA) examines the possible transfer of natural gas to Cyprus.

Elsewhere the newspaper reports that according to the Labour Minister, crisis requires a collective effort by the governments and the social partners.
