The major issues in today's financial press are the IMF forecasts for the growth rate of the Cyprus economy and the forecasts of the Economic Analysis Service of Hellenic Bank for economy.

The "Economy" inset of newspaper "Phileleftheros" refers to the IMF forecasts for the growth rate of the Cyprus economy. The IMF analysts expect that the Cypriot GDP will grow by 0.3% and unemployment will reach 4.6% in 2009. The Economic Analysis and Research Service of Hellenic Bank anticipates that growth rate will reach 1% in 2009.

Elsewhere the newspaper reports that the opinion of the independent consultant is in favour of the Central Bank Board of Directors and its powers.

The "Economy" inset of newspaper "Politis" refers to the IMF forecasts for the growth rate of the island's economy. According to the report, the IMF expects that GDP growth will drop to 0.3% in 2009 from 3.7% last year, while in its latest review, Hellenic Bank anticipates a growth rate of 1% and an increase in unemployment.

"Politis" also highlights that Mr. Nasos Ktorides tries to block the effort on behalf of Dolphin Capital Investors to differentiate the sale agreement that Mr. Theodoros Aristodemou has.

The "Economy" inset of newspaper "Simerini" refers to the IMF forecasts for the growth rate of Cyprus's economy. According to the report, the disappointing forecasts of the Fund are not in line with the Finance Ministry's estimates, which at first expected a growth rate of 2% and then of 1%.
